We would truly be remiss to not publicly acknowledge the support we have received from the City of New Albany. Without their support, it would have been impossible for the Southern Indiana Tennis Association to have survived at all, let alone be going strong after 86 amazing years! New Albany Mayor Jeff Gahan, deserves much credit in recent years as his support of the club, how it is run and what we do, has played a major factor in allowing us to maintain our occupancy of the Ekin Avenue facility.
We feel it has been a partnership, one in which both parties have benefited. The club has not only survived, but thrived. It has provided a place where men and women, young and old can come and participate in a great sport, in a clean and safe environment with the cost of membership affordable to one and all. Because of tournaments and active members, many people from outside of New Albany have visited, spent money in restaurants and hotels and have gotten the pleasant taste of mid-western hospitality and what New Albany has to offer. The club has also helped to keep the building in good repair by having a new roof and new air conditioning equipment installed.
In return, the city has provided a space that is not only affordable, but truly an outstanding facility in which to play table tennis. With room for 8 plus tables, high ceilings and lots of room to back away from the table, it is truly a great place to play!
We also wish to thank the police department particularly Police Chief Todd Baily for his continued support. We would also like to thank him for his service to New Albany and to the United States of America, as he is an Air Force Veteran.
Thank you again to the City of New Albany, the Mayor and his staff, and the Police Department. Here's to another 86 years!
